Identity & Story

The living form, habitat, and whispers preserved by the Record.

Overview

Veil Moss

Kind: Moss · Realm: Magicia / Earth · Status: Active

Soft moss that spreads across stones and old walls, Veil Moss glows faintly when stepped upon — a quiet greenish light that wakes at the press of a foot and fades behind you as you pass. Travelers have long used it to light hidden paths through the dark, following their own footsteps glowing softly ahead. The Inquisitors, less gently, harvest it for ritual inks: they believe it binds memory to the page, so that what is written in Veil-moss ink cannot be wholly erased, only buried. It is the humblest of magical plants and one of the most useful — a light for the lost, and a stubbornness against forgetting.

A light for the lost, and a stubbornness against forgetting.
